Subscriptions with Stripe

Overview

Follow the instructions below to connect Stripe to Summit Evergreen. After you complete these steps, a checkout link will be generated for you to use in Summit Evergreen. After your student successfully purchases the course in the shoppingcart, they will create a password and have instant access to the material.

To connect Stripe to Summit Evergreen, you will need to do the following:

  1. Configure your Stripe account in Summit Evergreen settings
  2. Set up your subscription plans in your Stripe account
  3. Create an offer for your Summit Evergreen product

Step 1: Configure your Stripe Account in Summit Evergreen Settings

  • If you do not have a Stripe account, go into Stripe and set one up
  • In Stripe, note your Stripe ID, Private Key, and Public Key
  • Log in to your Summit Evergreen account
  • In the left navigation menu, select “Settings”, then “Apps”
  • In the left pane, select “Stripe”
  • This will bring up a page in the right pane that provides Stripe integration details – in this page, in the “How to Connect” section, make sure the Stripe ID, Private Key, and Public Key are populated correctly
  • Hit “Save” in the lower right corner
  • In the left navigation menu, select “Structure”, then “Tiers”
  • In the left pane, select the tier for which you want to integrate with Stripe
  • This will bring up a page in the right pane that provides tier details
  • In this page, in the “Tier Details” section, in the “Payment Processor” dropdown box, select “Stripe”
  • Hit “Save” in the lower right corner

Step 2: Set Up your Subscription Plans in your Stripe Account

  • Login to your Stripe account
  • Under “Subscriptions” select “plans”
  • Select “create new”
  • Note: Each plan can only be used one time in Summit Evergreen, so you may need to create more than one plan

Step 3: Create an Offer for your Summit Evergreen Product

After creating a subscription based product, you will have to create an offer (a price point), and there are two options to select from. A regular offer is what you will select if you are setting up a subscription plan for the product but also providing a lifetime offer. However, if you are giving your customers the option of paying one lump sum (along with subscription billing), then you will need to create two offers. You can create as many offers as you need to.

To create a subscription offer:

  • In the left navigation menu, select “Structure”, then “Tiers”
  • In the left pane, select the tier for which you want to set up these offers
  • This will bring up a page in the right pane that provides tier details
  • In this page, scroll down to the “Offers” section and select “Add new Offer”

Stripe Subscription New Offer Screen

  • In the box that comes up, enter offer name for appropriate Stripe plan (previously created in Stripe in Step 2 above), payment processor, CRM, mailing list, price to charge, payment frequency, and offer SKU
  • Hit “Save”
  • In the “Offers” section, you’ll see your new offer – in the “Checkout Page” column is your checkout link

That’s it! Remember to test your process. Read here for more info about testing.
