Template: Student Welcome Pages

Once you have set up your product in Summit Evergreen, we have found it helpful for you to provide your students with instructions on how to navigate your membership site. At Summit Evergreen, we’ve found that your provision of a quick instruction video and/or instructional copy to your students can answer common navigation questions they might have.

Even though Summit Evergreen is extremely easy to use, students are bound to have some questions for you, and providing this kind of guidance is a great way to save time on customer service. To help you create this guidance, this page contains instruction templates you can use as a starting point.

With these instruction templates, you can build a set of navigation instructions for your students that will tailor-fit your course. For instance, your course may not have the welcome packet one template references, or it may have a different table of contents than what the templates include. But the templates should give you a basic outline to start creating the customized instructions that will provide valuable assistance to your students and increase your customer service efficiency.

We have also included two instructional videos you can watch as examples for inspiration.

Note: These templates are a starting point and will need to be customized to your membership site.


Instruction Template 1

This written instruction template works best for products that use one of the following themes: Laravel, Highrise, or Sensibility:

Hi and welcome to Client / Product Name! It’s so great to have you join us. In this quick tutorial, you will learn how to navigate your Client / Product Name portal. It’s a lot easier that you might think, so let’s go ahead and get started!

Each time you login, you’ll be directed to the Client / Product Name welcome page. The first time you login, make sure you scroll down and view the Welcome Packet – you’ll see a link to it at the bottom of your screen. To download this Welcome Packet, right click the link to it and select “Save Link As”. This will allow you to save the Welcome Packet directly to your computer. You can also view the Welcome Packet in your browser – to do so, left click the link to it. Also note…..on the welcome page is the email address to use for any support you might need. If you have any technical questions about how to navigate the portal or work through the system, you can use this email address to contact our support team.

As you start to navigate the Client / Product Name portal, on the left side of your screen you’ll see your course syllabus. As you scroll down the screen, in the syllabus you’ll see all the days / weeks / lessons your course offers. When you first login, only Week 1 / Day 1 / Lesson 1 of the course will be available to you. The other weeks will be “locked”, as indicated by a lock icon next to the content description for that week / day / lesson. As the course moves forward and the remaining weeks / days / lessons become available, they will unlock for you automatically.

At the top of your course syllabus, you will see a table of contents. If you left click it, you will then see the table of contents displayed in the main body of your screen. This is an alternative way to view your course’s content. Here, each content link is clickable. If you left click a content link for a week /day / lesson that is not yet available, you’ll be directed back to the welcome page, which will tell you that this course week / day / lesson is still locked.

To access each course lesson once it’s available, simply left click the link to it in your course syllabus. You will then see that week’s / day’s / lesson’s video presentation in the main body of your screen. In addition, any downloads that apply to that week / day / lesson will be listed underneath the video. To download any of these files, right click the link to it and select “Save Link As”. This will allow you to save the file directly to your computer. You can also view any of the files in your browser – to do so, left click the link to it.

At the bottom of your course syllabus, there is a category called “Bonus”. You can view any of the bonus material by selecting it from the left navigation…..all bonus material is available from the beginning of the course forward.

When you login, in the upper right corner of the welcome page, you will see your name. If you ever need to change your password, update your email address, or update your picture, just left click your name. A box will then appear that will allow you to change these personal information items.

Instruction Template 2

This written instruction template works best for products that use the Sleek theme:

Welcome to Client / Product Name! Congratulations – you’re in! Here you will get access to all the great content this course has to offer…..presentations from experts, hundreds of pages of transcripts, and even exclusive bonus gifts! In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to access all this awesome content. It’s not as hard as you think, so let’s get started!

Each time you login to the Client / Product Name website, you will be directed to a welcome page. As you navigate the site, if you ever want to return to this welcome page, just left click “Home” in the site menu you’ll see in the upper right corner. At the top of the screen you will also see a course navigation menu in a black bar. This menu allows you to you navigate to the different weeks / days / lessons of your course and download the content that’s available for you in these weeks / days / lessons.

To start, look at Week 1 / Day 1 / Lesson 1 of your course. If you left click Week 1 / Day 1 / Lesson 1 in the course navigation menu, you’ll see that a new navigation menu appears on the left of your screen. In this Week 1 / Day 1 / Lesson 1 menu, you’ll see a link to a welcome page followed by links to the content available for this week / day / lesson. If you left click a link, its content will then appear in the main body of your screen. Some or all of this content may be downloadable. To download, right click the content link and select “Save Link As”. This will allow you to save the content directly to your computer. You can also view the content in your browser by left clicking the link to it.

In the course navigation menu, if you see a lock icon next to a menu item, this means that this content is “locked”, or not available to you yet. As the course moves forward, the content will become available.

When you login, in the upper right corner of the welcome page, you will see your name. If you ever need to change your password, update your email address, or update your picture, just left click your name. A box will then appear that will allow you to change these personal information items.

Finally, after you have finished viewing and/or downloading all the content you want, you can left click “Logout” in the upper right corner menu.
